Areas of Expertise

  • Every person is a valuable and unique piece of the universal, intergalactic puzzle, but it doesn’t always feel that way. Fear of being not good enough, or not measuring up can stop us in our tracks, prevent us from building towards the connections and futures we desire, and feed into other challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and addiction.

Using evidence-based approaches such as Narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), we can get to the root of the belief systems causing feelings of low self-worth, and develop a plan of action to increase confidence, courage, capacity to face life’s challenges, and resilience, which will in turn raise your self-esteem and sense of self-worth.

This is not your daily affirmations in a mirror (although those can help). These are actionable steps toward building trust and faith in YOURSELF.

  • Facing struggles in your romantic, familial, or platonic relationships?Does communication feel especially difficult, and do you often leave conversations feeling unheard or misunderstood? Do you find yourself struggling to set boundaries, or avoiding conflict?

Let’s explore the roots of those issues, and by that, we mean the belief systems that may no longer serve you. Uncovering long-held patterns, assessing needs, setting boundaries, and implementing self-regulation strategies will build your capacity of self-worth and as well as your ability to create meaningful relationships with others.

  • Undergoing significant life changes such as; changing careers, moving away, ending a marriage or long-term relationship, experiencing the death of a loved one, or navigating chronic illness, disability, or a change in gender or sexual orientation? These transitions can be some of the hardest we face, no doubt about it, but they are also rife with opportunities to realign priorities and to develop our sense of self.

Using narrative therapy as a benchmark, we will explore YOUR story to empower who you are now and who want to become. Through creative therapeutic approaches, we will define what matters to you and support you on path toward your sense of purpose.

  • Anxiety and depression can cause day-to-day struggles which impact your ability to live a fulfilling and joyful life. When targeting these issues, we will use a blend of gentle exposure work, Gestalt approaches, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed care to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns.

Together, we’ll explore what’s happening in the present moment, build tools to face what feels overwhelming, and safely reconnect with parts of yourself that may feel shut down or stuck. This approach can help you feel more grounded, more in control, and more connected to who you are. Therapy doesn’t have to be about fixing what’s “broken” — it’s about making space for healing, growth, and clarity.

  • What makes the cycle of addiction so insidious is that it attacks your self-esteem, tricking you into thinking that you are no deserving of getting better and that you are not capable of giving up behaviors that harm you and others. This is simply not true. If you are struggling with addiction, we will build a coping plan with actionable steps to build accountability, courage, and resilience.

Together, we’ll work to understand the emotional roots of your behavior, build compassion for your experience, and take committed steps toward actionable change. This process isn’t about willpower— it’s about learning to stay present, make value-based choices, and reclaim your life with clarity and support. You don’t have to do it alone, and recovery doesn’t have to mean perfection— it means showing up, one honest step at a time. If you are already in a 12-step focused group, this therapy is the perfect compliment to your work in that group.

  • Grief over loss of a loved one, relationship, terminal illness, or a significant life change is not linear. It can be painful, complicated, and confusing, and tough emotions can seem to surface out of nowhere. Therapeutic support can provide a gentle, safe space to navigate grief of all kinds.

We will meet your needs as they arise on your journey, whether they are building and practicing self-care and coping mechanisms, creating a legacy plan to be remembered by or to remember a lost loved one, or simply a sympathetic and objective listening ear.

  • Persons with disabilities have access to specific services and programs which could help them receive and maintain employment through the Department of Education’s Vocational Rehabilitation program. As a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation counselor (CRC), Rachel can help you understand the VR process with state and private services, and can provide information to get you started on your employment journey including, interview prep and resume development.
